The tour will explore Bujumbu and Gitega cities, then drive to Kibira national park for primates and wildlife tour.

Tour itinerary

Day 1: Bujumbura and Gitega city tour

We shall start our tour with breakfast at your hotel in Bujumbura and be ready for a drive for the city tour to visit Lake Tanganyika, you will visit the Gitega culture museum, the Bujumbura Islam cultural center, the fresh fruit market and the craft shop. If you like, you will enjoy the Bujumbura night life which gets quite fun. Bujumbura is a town that never sleeps!

Day 2: Kibira national park

Early breakfast and drive with our company tour guide to Kibira national park arriving in time for a guided nature walk in the forest. Primates to view include chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, vervet monkey, blue monkey, olive baboon, black colobus monkey ad lots of bird species. Infact Kibira national park is one of the best birding spots in Burundi.

Day 3: Transfer to Rubavu national park

Hit the road after a hot morning cup of coffee and transfer to Rubavu national park. The park is home to Burundi’s best wildlife species due to the savannah grassland nature of the park offering home to numerous wildlife including water animals like the Cape buffalos, Nile crocodile, hippos which can be seen on a boat ride on river Rubavu. Tou will also have a game drive in the park to view wildlife species like duiker, over 200 bird species.

You will drive back to Bujumbura after your wildlife safari in Rubavu reaching in time for dinner and overnight at Club du lac Tanganyira / Kiriri garden hotel/ Burundi palace Boutique.

Day 4: Gishora Drum Sanctuary – Departure
Depending on your departure flight time, we can visit the Gishora Drum Sanctuary to explore the rich Burundian culture and there after transfer to the airport to catch departure flight.
