Day 1: Lake Tanganyika, Gitega city tour and Gishora Drum Sanctuary

Tour itinerary
Day 1: Lake Tanganyika, Gitega city tour and Gishora Drum Sanctuary
Our company tour will pick you up from the airport upon arrival in Bujumbura or the tour can start off from your hotel after breakfast in the morning.
We shall set off for a city tout of Bujumbura to visit interesting sites in the city like the cultural museum, presidential offices, fresh fruit markets, art museum.
You will spend the rest of the evening exploring the unique Gishora Drum Sanctuary located in Burundi’s new capital city of Gitega. Establishes as a UNESCO Heritage site, the sanctuary drumming is a ritual to present the success of King Mwezi the 4th Gisabo Bikata when he won the rebellion over chief Ntibirangwa who had long strained the peace in the kingdom.
The people of Burundi have praised his victory until today and drum with confidence as a way of praise.
You will have a chance to take part in the special presentation which will entertain you and dance to the music of the drums.
You will have a chance to visit the Gitega national museum and the city.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibira national park – Transfer into Rwanda.
Start your day with early breakfast ad be ready for pickup by our company tour guide to start off your drive to Kibira national park. Due to its large forest cover, the park is home to chimpanzees and over 70 mammal species living in Kibira national park.
On arrival, you will have a nature walk in the beautiful forest where you will see chimpanzees in the forest and quite a number of other primates like white and black colobus monkeys, baboons, birds, butterflies and so much more nature.
You will drive back to Bujumbura in time for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe – canopy walk
At 7:00am, you are expected to be at Uwinka trailhead where you will be briefed on the set chimpanzee tracking dos and don’ts. At 8:00am, you will begin your adventure to look out for chimpanzees in the lush rainforest of Nyungwe National Park and this can cover 3-4 hours including one hour of magical encounter. Amazingly, you have a chance to come across the L’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, baboons and others as well as bird species. In the afternoon, you will go for canopy walk for you to look out for variety of primates, birds and not to forget the breathtaking sceneries of the lush rainforest.

Day 4: Transfer to lake Kivu – Continue to Volcanoes national park
Set off after breakfast at your hotel in Nyungwe and hit the road for lake Kivu, the largest lake in Rwanda known for its Nile tilapia. On arrival you will have lunch and a boat ride on lake Kivu to explore different islands of the beautiful
Day 5: Golden monkey Tracking – Visit Ibyiwacu village
Start off with breakfast and drive to the Kinigi Volcanoes Park office for briefing about golden monkey tracking and start off with the adventure. Golden monkey tracking offers a sure deal to see the primates jump in trees as they feed and play in the Volcanoes national park.
In the afternoon you will take park in Ibywacu cultural village for an authentic Rwanda cultural adventure with the locals.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
The gorilla trekking permit in Rwanda costs $1500 per person and $700 in Bwindi national park Uganda and Mgahinga national park. Today we can ably trek gorillas in Bwindi or in Volcanoes national park depending of the clients.
Day 7. Transfer to Kigali for city tour – Departure
Today you will drive back to Kigali city to visit the genocide memorial site, fresh fruit market and the best spots in Kigali. Your drive will drive you to the airport to catch departure flight.
