Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Gisenyi

Upon your arrival at Kigali international airport, meet your driver guide and transfer to Gisenyi.  Enjoy a ride through the clean Kigali to visit the Kigali genocide memorial center and Kigali convention center among others. Proceed through Rwanda’s rolling hills to Gisenyi for a lunch stop and later proceed to lake Kivu for check in. Dinner and overnight at Lake Kivu Serena Hotel, Paradise Malahide, Gorillas Hotel.

Day 2:  Hike Nyiragongo

After breakfast, transfer to Kibati patrol village where Nyiragongo hiking begins.  Join a short meeting about safety tips, get your porters and at 10:00am, start off the strenuous hike.  Keep steady and vigilant while stepping on the loose Volcano stones, which sometimes get slippery. The hike takes roughly 7 hours or less depending on your physical fitness and hiking abilities.  Overnight camp at the volcano summit for magical views of the boiling lava lake at night.

Day 3: Descend & transfer to Kigali

Wake-up on a cup of coffee, enjoy the sunrise and hike down to meet your driver guide at the base of the Volcano. Drive through Goma and Gisenyi connecting to Kigali for your connecting flight.
