5 Days Rwanda, Kenya safari offers a unique safari experience exploring countries in East Africa trekking mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes or cheaper gorilla permit in Bwindi National Park and also do wildlife safari in Kenya’s Masai Mara Wildlife reserve. Volcanoes National Park is one of the four gorilla destinations in Africa where habituated mountain gorillas are seen. A city tour in Kigali and wildlife tour in Maasai Mara, Kenya are a highlight to this 5 days’ tour.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Departure from Kigali to Gisozi genocide memorial site

Have breakfast at your hotel in Kigali and drive to Kigali for a city tour, visit the Gisozi genocide memorial center to learn what took place during the mass killing of1994 in Rwanda genocide that led to the death of about 800,000 innocent people and many displaced. Also pay a visit to a local art and craft shop and fruit markets in the city. You will proceed to Volcanoes National Park northwestern Rwanda after lunch arriving at the park in the evening for dinner and overnight at Virunga Lodge or Bisate Lodge (Luxury).

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park / Volcanoes National Park

After a delicious breakfast at the lodge you will join other visitors at park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla tracking guidelinesand then set off to the forest for this mind-blowing wild experience. The trek lasts for 2 to 8 hours but this depends on the movement and location of gorilla. You will have a full hour with the Gorillas from the time you meet them as you study their behavior and taking best pictures with them for memories. Return to the lodge later for lunch and then transfer to Kigali, dinner and overnight at Hotel Des Mille Collin, Kigali Serena Hotel or Chez Lando Hotel.

Day 3: Fly to Kenya

After your breakfast at the hotel and then take a flight to Nairobi from Kigali. On arrival, have lunch at Nairobi Serena Hotel or Sankara Nairobi where you will relax and spend a night.

Day 4: Game drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve

Early in the morning after breakfast, drive to Maasai Mara National Reserve for the exciting morninggame drive. Look out for the big five like Lions, Elephants, Cheetah, Buffaloes, Rhinos, Leopards, Maasai giraffes,  zebras, Elands and of course the wildebeests and so many birds. Return to the lodge for lunch and return for evening game drive to see some of those you could have missed in the morning. Later, drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mara Siria Tented Camp, Kicheche Bush Camp or Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 5: Drive to Nairobi city

Have breakfast at the lodge and later transfer to Nairobi Airport for your flight and this will mark the end of your 5 day safari in Rwanda and Kenya.
