Day 1: Gorilla trekking and return to Kigali
Pick up by our company representative at about 4:00am and drive northwestwards to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive early enough and join other visitors at Kinigi park headquarters for briefing on the set rules and regulations for gorilla trekking with your packed lunch/snacks and bottled water ready. You will then be assigned to a gorilla group to trek in a group of 8 visitors and at 8:00am, you will embark on actual trek together with park ranger guide and trackers. This primate adventure may take you 2-6 hours depending on your level of physical fitness, nature of habitat and where these creatures are found. Volcanoes National Park comprises of ten groups which have been set for tourism reasons and they include Hirwa, Ugenda, Kwitonda, Bwenge, Umubano, Amahoro, Susa A, Karisimbi, Group 13 and Sabyinyo. Once you get your gorilla family, you have a maximum of one hour to strike your imaginations with these creatures, take their pictures and also learn how they behave.
