Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park
After a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred to Nyungwe National Park which is set in the southern province of Rwanda. En-route, places to make a stopover include Nyanza where you will pay a visit to the Kings palace and at Huye to explore the ethnographic museum. Have lunch thereafter and then drive to the park to check in at the lodge for dinner and night stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park
At 7:00am, you are expected to be at Uwinka trailhead where you will be briefed on the set chimpanzee tracking dos and don’ts. At 8:00am, you will begin your adventure to look out for chimpanzees in the lush rainforest of Nyungwe National Park and this can cover 3-4 hours including one hour of magical encounter. Amazingly, you have a chance to come across the L’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, baboons and others as well as bird species. In the afternoon, you will go for canopy walk for you to look out for variety of primates, birds and not to forget the breathtaking sceneries of the lush rainforest.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today after breakfast, you will embark on 5 to 7 hours journey to Volcanoes National Park. Check in at the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village
Begin the day with breakfast and later, join other visitors at Kinigi for briefing on gorilla trekking dos and don’ts. One gorilla family will be allocated to you to trek in a group of 8 visitors and the gorilla families include Susa A, Hirwa, Sabyinyo, Ugenda, Bwenge, Kwitonda, Umubano, Group 13 and Amahoro. This is a strenuous experience and covers 2-6 hours depending on your speed of hiking, location of gorillas and nature of habitat. After the one hour of face to face encounter, return to the lodge to have some rest and then pay a visit to Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village to interact with the locals.

Day 5: Drive back to Kigali
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali where you will set off on Kigali city tour. You will visit Kigali genocide site to learn about what occurred during the 1994 Rwanda genocide and also visit other places including craft markets. Later, you will transfer to the airport or hotel.
